Greetings
What people say when the player clicks on them, waits too long, or loses them: lines picked by relationship, personality, rapport and time of day.
When the player clicks on someone in a room, that person stops, turns to the player and says something. If the player keeps them waiting without choosing anything, they get impatient, then give up: they say a parting line, the menu closes and they go back to what they were doing.
Those lines are mod data: .ulgreet files in a Greetings/ folder of any mod. Every mod's files are read together, so a mod adds lines without touching anyone else's.
text# A block: one header line, then one line per variant, then a blank line.
@open role=Spouse rapport>=50 mood=Flirty
There's my favourite person.
Come here, you.
@wait role=Spouse mood=Annoyed
Babe? Say something.
@leave role=Spouse mood=Annoyed
Tell me later, then.
Moments
| Header | When |
|---|---|
@open |
The player clicks on them. |
@wait |
Partway through their patience with nothing chosen. |
@leave |
They give up. The menu closes after this line. |
Filters
Every filter on the header line must pass. Of the blocks that pass, the ones with the most filters win, so a line written for "an ex who hates the player" beats one for "anyone". Among the winners, one line is picked at random, avoiding the last few that person said.
| Filter | Passes when |
|---|---|
role=Spouse,Dating |
The speaker is the player's spouse or date. Roles: Spouse, Dating, DatingFriend, Affair, Ex, Boss, Colleague, Neighbour, Landlord, Housemate, PersonalTrainer, Companion, CrimeBoss, Criminal. |
family=Parent |
The speaker is the player's parent. Also Child, Sibling, GrandParent, GrandChild, Cousin, StepParent, StepChild, StepSibling, ParentSibling, SiblingChild. family alone means any relative. |
stranger |
No role, no family, never met. |
known |
No role, no family, but they have met. |
rapport>=30 |
Their rapport with the player (-100 to 100). Operators <, <=, >, >=, =. |
facet.patience<0.3 |
A personality facet, 0 to 1. Any facet id from Personality/*.ulpersonality. |
sex=f |
The speaker is a woman (m for a man). player=m tests the player. |
morning day evening night |
The hour: 6-11, 11-18, 18-22, 22-6. |
Two header words are not filters:
mood=Angrysets how the line is spoken when a voice mod is installed (the moods ofVoice/Moods.ulvoicemood:Neutral,Happy,Flirty,Irritated,Annoyed,Angry,Furious,Sad,Worried,Anxious,Evil,Wink...). DefaultNeutral.weight=2makes the block come up twice as often as its peers.
An unknown filter makes its block never pass, so a typo shows up as lines that are never said.
{name} in a line is replaced by the player's first name.
How long they wait
text!timing leave_min=6 leave_max=18 close_bonus=6 wait_at=0.55
A person with patience 0 waits leave_min seconds, one with patience 1 waits leave_max. A partner, a relative or anyone above 40 rapport waits close_bonus seconds more. The @wait line comes at wait_at of that time. Opening one of the menu's sections starts the wait over. The last mod's !timing line wins.
Voice
Without a voice mod, the line shows as a speech bubble over the person. With one, it is also spoken in that person's voice, with the block's mood, and their mouth moves with it. Nothing is spoken while a scene is running.
